Guide to Living in Leeds for Young Professions

Leeds contains the UK's second largest business, finance and legal services outside of London. With many jobs available in and around the city centre, it is no wonder that many people seek to move to Leeds every year to participate in this bustling urban city.

With many apartments within Leeds city centre you can have everything you want and need at the tip of your fingers. With thousands of students moving into the city every year to attend one of the three popular Universities, the benefits effect the residents of Leeds with many bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants offering great deals all year round. So in this case everyone is a winner.

In terms of nightlife, Leeds is considered to have one of the best night scenes in the north. There is something to offer everyone, from popular music at the well-known TigerTiger, to Indie tunes at the famous (in Leeds) CockPit. Drinks and cocktails are on offer down Call Lane which on Friday and Saturday nights are bursting with punters winding down after a week of work. Just further up the road Headingley (the main student hub) contains some of the best bars in Leeds. The majority of these are along the Otley Road which is now famous for its legendary 'Otley Run' pub crawl which can occur any day of the week by anyone. Simply put on your costume go to the first pub and make your way down the 20 pubs into Leeds city centre. For a more chilled vibe, Chapel Allerton offers quaint pubs and restaurants that attracts many of Leeds residents over the weekend.

If you're looking to absorb some of the Leeds culture and history there are many museums and art galleries open 7 days a week. The most famous of these is the Royal Armouries museum which is situated along the Leeds canal. This museum contains the UK's national collection of arms and armour including artillery. The Leeds City Museum in Millenium Square has many exhibitions each year that would take the interest of anyone.

Leeds has its own Grand Theatre which is where Opera North is based, and also the West Yorkshire Playhouse which has had some of the best production groups playing there over the last couple of years, from Shakespeare to orginial contemporary pieces. Leeds is home to one of the UK's biggest bands of the time The Kaiser Chiefs.

But if you're not interested in theatre and prefer to sink your teeth into a good game Elland Road Stadium home to Leeds United has some of the best games in the country. There are also regular games with the University teams in the Headingley stadium throughout the year that see great team spirit.
